Code monkey here! As jobs go, web work is fairly low hanging fruit but you're right, it does tend to pay well. I didn't like the theoretical courses much either but I have come to appreciate some of them later. But then there were some that really were pointless. XD If you're already quite good at coding, find some tutorial on Ruby and Rails. With a little practise, you'll be at least good enough to create some small-scale sites.
